The development of financial literacy of the youth leaving children's home

This thesis is focused on education of financial literacy of children living in children's homes. It is based on current state of education politics in the fields of financial literacy, the contents of educational programmes and qualitative research of real current state of education of financial literacy in children's homes. The research itself will be made via structured interviews with children from children's homes. The research is focused on discovering the level of financial literacy of older children (15 - 18 years old) permanently living in children's homes, searching for possibilities of improvement of education of financial literacy in children's homes and therefore increasing prevention of social exclusion of young people leaving children's homes due to over-owing which is usually caused by low level of financial literacy. Achievements of children from shelter homes in secondary and tertiary education

In this thesis, the issue of school success of clients from children's homes from the perspective of the Czech and foreign studies and from the perspective of clients and carers in children's homes is studied. Work includes results of a qualitative survey, which was made by the technique of semi-sctructured in-depth interviews, analyzed by using grounded theory. The aim of the research is to examine on bases of the statement of current and former clients of children's homes and their carers, which factors have the greatest impact on client's success in the educational process within the frame of secondary and tertiary education and make this a guidance for pedagogical work. Results show that from the perspective of both sides, length of educational influence in children's home is generally considered as a positive factor ("making mutual pathway with the carer"). Influence of the biological family members and client's contact with them is considered as a negative factor. Children's home clients attach much greater positive importance to amicable relationship with their carer and his empathy with the emphasis on mutual trust.
